Developed by ACA International, an organization serving credit and collection professionals, the Professional Practices Management System (PPMS™ ) provides insight into best practices and business procedures specific to the collections industry. The system aims to help agencies operate efficiently and effectively as well as ethically and in full compliance with relevant regulations. An agency may pursue certification on a company-wide basis or, alternatively, it may choose to certify its employees on an individual basis.

The PPMS™ training consists of a rigorous four-step process that begins with training and progresses through application of the learned material, then documentation of its results. As a fourth step, organizations must renew their certification at specified intervals. Currently, less than 100 collection agencies in the world hold the PPMS™ credential.
